Why Leaders Fail and Derail - The Dark Side of Leadership

Professor Adrian Furnham is one of the world's most productive psychologists and one of HR Magazine's 20 Most Influential People in HR. With vast amounts of publications under his belt, including over 1300 scientific papers and 95 books, Adrian is here to talk about what he calls "The Dark Side of Leadership".

The data shows, to everyone's surprise, that up to 50% of senior managers and business leaders fail and derail. Given the time, money and effort involved in their selection, the question is why this happens. This talk explores this question.

Join this keynote to hear Adrian Furnham explore three key factors:

  • The process of selecting OUT as well as IN, and being conscious about dark-side personality traits
  • The idea of looking for optimal not maximal competencies in predicting performance
  • The looking at the adaptability and change-readiness of managers

Recommendations for how to avoid these problems will be considered.

Transitioning IT to Advanced Technology Partner

Organizations have had to adapt their customer experience practice and organizational stance to survive and ultimately thrive in this era. Historically, many organizations have struggled with digital transformation, particularly as existing business continuity often makes simultaneous changes to processes difficult. Larger corporations with enough capital to ensure long-term survival have taken this chance to instigate wholesale process and platform change during this period - but what does that mean for the customer experience?

Essentials of Securing Active Directory in a Hybrid Environment

For more than two decades, Microsoft Active Directory (AD) has been the de facto method organizations use to authenticate and authorize users so they can access computers, devices, and applications within a network. AD is celebrated for its extensive compatibility with various applications and Windows editions. But that compatibility comes with security downsides. Integrating business apps with AD, for example, centralizes access to a company's information stores, so once an attacker gains entry, the threat actor can wreak havoc.

And for those shifting to a hybrid environment, ensuring security can be even more complicated: Shifting from using only on-premises AD to extending to cloud authentication requires a different mindset and approach.

In this web seminar, Semperis Chief Technologist Guido Grillenmeier will discuss AD access points used in recent cyberattacks, security risks to watch for in managing AD with Azure AD, how to look for warning signs that AD has been compromised, and steps to take in the event of an attack. You'll come away from this seminar with guidelines for securing AD from cyberattacks, including:

  • Common AD weak spots exploited in recent cyber-attacks
  • Top security risks to watch for in managing a hybrid identity environment
  •  Preparing for AD attack remediation
  •  Understanding limitations of native AD rollback capabilities
  •  Ensuring post-attack recovery doesn't re-introduce malware

Privileged Access Management Challenges When Moving to the Cloud

The move to broad-based remote work has accelerated many organizations business requirements to move more infrastructure and services into the cloud. Experts agree that the top priority for cloud migration should be data security and privacy. However, recent studies discovered that 70% of organizations experienced a public cloud security incident in the last year. With 80% of organizations predicted to migrate toward cloud, hosting, and colocation services by 2025, new attack surfaces will arise and create greater security vulnerabilities.

To fully benefit from rapid technological transformation, it is imperative that enterprises embrace strategies for safeguarding their infrastructure and services both during and after cloud migration. In this session, we will discuss common challenges and the tools and strategies IT and security leaders are finding most effective for managing a secure transformation to the cloud.

Why Zero Trust starts with Identity Security

Modern threats and recent incidents are further proof that identity has become the new security battleground and that an ?assume breach? mentality is a critical starting point to developing an effective security strategy. In this Executive Boardroom session we will cover the following topics:

  • How the risks around privileged access are changing as users and resources are increasingly outside the corporate network,
  • What techniques attackers are using to try to gain privileged access,
  • How organizations can adopt a Zero Trust approach by moving toward comprehensive Identity Security.

Journey to a Lean IT & High performance Business Enabling Organization

At a time of decreasing margins, diverse markets, complex customer needs and emerging technologies, it is more and more important to unite the power in an organization to eventually drive in one common direction.

Since many organizations are characterized by an extensive stakeholder management with various stakeholders from different business sectors the IT needs to enable the business. The vision "IT as business enabler" aims at the desired future IT position and provides the basis to transform into a lean IT and high-performance organization.

Setting up Business Relationship Management, Stakeholder Management and IT Governance are concrete keys to success. Another approach to build bridges between IT and business is the establishment of a separate unit for IT integration and business consulting which connects the several corporate divisions and creates synergy effects.

Education at the Heart of the Organisation

Putting education at the center of attention is one of the core factors that will help organisations overcome 21st century challenges. One could even argue that if education becomes a fundamental component of the organisational design, it has the potential to tackle all future organisational challenges. Unfortunately, education in organisations is quite often planned and rolled out when it's already too late. To harvest the benefits of education, tap into the potentials and create new opportunities, organisations must address the essential challenge of becoming an ?infinite organisation'. Becoming an infinite organisation is not a process but a mindset. A mindset to build for future generations by taking all stakeholders into account. Building an infinite organisation is an ongoing journey without a dedicated start or end. It is a way, not a  finite goal. It's a constant flow in a highly complex environment in which new pieces are added and edited regularly. The infinite organisation is interconnected and interdependent and when coordinated and led for a common purpose, there are very few limits to what can be achieved.

Key Takeaways;

  • Learn why the infinite organisation is needed and why education is the backbone of modern organisational design
  • Get insights into educational practices and how to establish a learning environment in your organisation
